David Ball was an inspiration to every laboratory technologist in Canada. He succumbed to renal disease in July 2001. David served his entire laboratory career working for the Western Health Care Board and resided in Deer Lake, NL. Outside of his career, David was an active community leader and volunteer with the Deer Lake Town Council, Scouts Canada, and the Gideons.
The NLCMLS in conjunction with Abbott Laboratories, Diagnostics Division offers a provincial recognition in the form of a $1000.00 cash award and certificate. Students who have completed Semester 6 of their second year of studies in the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program at CNA will be eligible; the award will be presented when the student is in their third year of the program.
The award is based on academic achievement (recent transcript), an outline of community services, and a written essay explaining the importance for them choosing medical laboratory.
